Was your hunting as poor as Our's?

We had a poor year in Our hunting camp. Sandy got a real nice 8 point buck, but I was skunked. We usually try to get a couple does', but this year I only saw a couple small bucks.

We did see lots of other wild animals, couldn't get a shot of the weasle, but did manage to capture a red squirel.
See on Cheese this Saturday!

Sandy likes to take pictures.

Wow! How did I let a month go by without a post? Must have been busy.

Sandy and I went through Jay Cooke state park this year, and here a couple highlights.

If you look close you can see the story corps button on the tank bag.
This was at the park.
These next 2 are at Our house, planted along the sidewalk.

This is Damien, Our youngest grandchild. He didn't want to slip and slide, just wanted a drink.

Diablo has a new home!

Several months ago a friend asked us to watch Her dog while She found it a new home. We accepted the dog as Our own, We asked Our friend several times how the new home search was going. Not so well was the response, every time. Finally Sandy put up a notice at the hospital She where She works. A response was quick. A co-workers' brother had been looking for exactly this type of dog. I talked with Him last night, and He sounds like a good candidate. Diablo requires lots of attention, and loves to play. I know He'll make a good dog for the right people. He has a somewhat troubled past, but His future looks good.

Good luck Jay, I know You'll take excellent care of Diablo.

Raspberry time!

Sandy and I picked almost a gallon of raspberries today. We will be making jam tonight. I also have some rhubarb so I'm thinking a batch of just raspberries and one with both. The grapes have powdery mildew and aren't looking good right know. The apple tree should be producing many apples this year if I can keep the deer off.

Shawn Phillips this weekend

I can't make the KAXE festival because of some other engagements this weekend. But while I'm in the Cities I'm going to go see Shawn Phillips at the MN Zoo. Great place to see a show if you've never been. I brought the ducks down to the cabin and let them hang out in the pond. I'll be on Cheese next Saturday, and don't forget about the Cheese picnic, Aug, 23rd.

Onions are up!

I have 2 rows of red onions this year, and they are starting to come up. I have failed miserable at growing red onions in years past. This year I tried onion sets, hope they work better. We have been enjoying fresh lettuce from the window box this spring,( can't believe I didn't think of this before,) what a great way to grow lettuce. I don't have a big enough garden to grow all I'd like to. I have been fixin' ta' put up a garden at the cabin.

Thanks for checking out My blog. Check back for more.
